These are the new names coming to the World Wide Web like: .web .play .free .xyz .cloud .cymru / .wales .silver .hosting Well myself is going to buy one's relevant for my business to protect my business brand. I think we are a long way from seeing any of those having any significant impact. It depends a lot on who adopts them and how well they market it. I could see .web doing quite well, since it's generic enough and already appears as a dummy TLD in movies and TV shows. A big factor is pricing. Price it too high and no one will use it; price it too low and it becomes another untrustworthy spam fiasco like .info.

All the details, conditions, pricing etc is still TBA so it's hard to say... These gtlds will be launched in 2013 so let's wait and see.

I'd expect the cost to be pretty high for most. Given the $185k fee just for application, not to mention the investment required in infrastructure to run it. I don't think we'll see that many which are made generally available at low cost. More likely to be specifically targeted at certain markets, probably at the sort of pricing we see for .xxx potentially more. I'd also take a guess that a number would not even be made available for general registration - such as the ones Google applied for.
